| Ed Royal |
Ed Royal discovered his love for DJing in the early 80’s in Italy. Soon after he was standing behind his first pair of 1210´s. His intention was to bring listeners closer to rare groove and funk. This required great skill in the difficult art of mixing, a skill Ed soon acquired. After his first gigs in Broglu, Sappalott and Boing he became Resident DJ in the popular Jimmy’s Bar in Innsbruck. Today he still graces the Jimmy’s crowd with his tunes every Thursday. Now he also crosses his funk with nu-funk, break-beat, drum and bass and various other styles. A true “freestyler”.As well as DJing, Ed Royal wanted to produce music and thus opened his own studio in 1999. In 2003 he founded his own label “Innvision Records” The label’s second release was a true sensation: “Born to funk” was sold out within one month and was subsequently licensed by Ursula 1000 for the Eighteenth Street Lounge Recordings compilation “Ursadelica”. On this record Ed Royal worked for the first time with his ideally matched partner in production, DJ Enne.
Many tracks and numerous gigs around Europe and beyond followed. All were highly recommended by critics. The two produced remixes for the All Good Funk Alliance, Soulphonic Soundsystem, Mawglee, Michael DeVellis, K’Bonus, Badboe, Parov Stelar, Timewarp Inc. & Cadillac Jones. The label “Innvision Records” is now a household name amongst the funk and break- beat scene and is amongst the top elite featuring artists such as Malente, Fort Knox Five, the All Good Funk Alliance and others. His releases continue to appear in the German club charts and feature in the record collections of widely known colleagues Makossa (FM4 Radio, Austria), JonH (Fort Knox Five), Kid Loco (Yellow Prod.), Rob Birch (Stereo Mc’s) and more.
In 2007 he released his first album “The Groove Collage” with Enne on Innvision-Records. They received critical acclaim all over the world and played a big release tour in Europe. The new 12” by Ed Royal called “fantasy” in January 2008 climbed to No. 16 in the German club chart. At this time he is working on his next full-length album and Ed has done remixes for Tal M. Klein (U.S.A.), See-I (U.S.A.) and for the famous Kid Loco.
His brand new, and highly anticipated album "Live Your Dreams" is set for release this May.
When he isn’t working in his studio - he’s rocking the clubs of Europe.
