Chris Hutchison

Chris Hutchison writes simple songs about complex things: love, family, home, loss. Phrases turn, emotions connect, and melodies soar. You sing along even though you've never heard the tune before. Chris writes from a perspective of interludes between lovers and lives lived and the roads that lead back from lost love and moments of heartbreak. He has the knack of drawing in a crowd with the sincerity of his music.

Chris hails from Australia’s home of country music, Gympie Queensland. Born on the 8th of January, sharing a birth date with the king of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley. When he picked up his first guitar at the tender age of 11, was there ever any surprise that he would be a natural, with music running through his veins.

Moving to the Gold Coast in his youth, Chris found a love for the city, but at the same time was able to keep his country boy spirit and humble personality. Chris’ Sound can be compared to no other, Chris says, “It’s the catchiest form of honesty”

Playing to a sell out crowd of over 1000 paying fans at the Gold Coast Art Centre, in November 2006. Chris released his first independent album titled ‘Heartburn’, capturing the eyes and ears of the Australian Music Industry. His confidence, charisma, unique voice and sincere song writing, have opened doors supporting the likes of Shannon Noll, Thirsty Merc, Dragon, Mark Seymore, Damien Leith, Choir Boys and James Rayne of “Australian Crawl”. Just to name a few.

When asked about his music Chris says, “It has always surprised and humbled me when a crowd is sitting in their seats, staring in captivation, singing along, or up on their feet dancing to my songs. All of the hard work, and hours spent writing and practicing every day, is worth it if I can help even one person forget about their troubles, just for a moment. It’s a great feeling!”

Currently Chris is in high demand on the Gold Coast music scene. He spends his spare time co-writing with other independent singer/song writers and signed artists. He is always looking for new challenges and opportunities to broaden his musical talent. Chris remains very grounded, surrounded by family, friends, and local fans, he is well prepared to do what it takes to move his career to the next level. With extensive interest from numerous recording labels, and publishing companies, I’m sure it is just a matter of time.
